Show 2010/2011 Date change

We have been granted permission by the GCCF, to hold our next show (3rd Sabction) on 2nd October 2010, the venue will remain unchanged (The Greig Leisure Centre Alcester) we will share the hall with the Exotic CC as usual, but we will also be sharing the venue with the Tabby CC (they will be in the larger hall on their own. This will give exhibitors an opportunity to get a certificate on the day.

If you enter our show you will also be able to enter the Tabby  CC show (open class only at a reduced rate) and compete for a certificate.!!

Our first Championship show will then take place in October 2011.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 2010 

The Egyptian Mau Club will hold its Annual General Meeting in Leicestershire on Sunday 6^th June 2010 starting with a buffet lunch at 12.30pm. After the meeting our cups and trophies will be awarded to the lucky winners!

Anne Gregory, Joanne Higgins, Lauren Kennedy and Jean Lamb are retiring according to the rotation of committee but are willing to re-stand. Jean Gillespie has stood down from the committee but will remain our Welfare Officer. There is one vacancy on the committee. If there are any nominations for the Committee or for the GCCF Delegate please forward the nominations, signed by the nominee, a proposer and seconder to the Secretary by 9^th May.

In a similar manner, all items for the Agenda should be forwarded to the Secretary by 9^th May 2010.

As soon as the venue for the AGM is confirmed I will publish the address and postcode. The Agenda, the Minutes of AGM 2009 and the examined Accounts for the year ending 31^st December will be sent to all members.

Show 2010

A lovely day was had by all, we had almost a 25% increase in the number of cats at the show which was lovely to see, we are grateful to our exhibitors. Catering was done by our own team and they produced some really scrummy food for everyone - thank you!  We are going to reward our exhibitors by counting points for each cat shown at our sanction shows, these points will add up to money off at our first championship show, further details will follow.

Once again we respectfully request that all Egyptian Mau owners who are showing cats, send in their show results to our New Cup Secretary's Jo Higgins and Lauren Kennedy, who, thankfully will be compiling all the results and determine who has won trophies, it is imperative that they know who has won classes etc, could we please ask that you remember to let them know your results so that they can determine cup winners for our AGM, we are particularly grateful to them for their dedication and ask that you make sure that they can award trophies accordingly with the best available information, which we know only you as members can provide, thank you.

THE EGYPTIAN MAU CLUB AGM

The Tenth Annual General Meeting of the Egyptian Mau Club will be held on Sunday 7^th June at Sewstern Village Hall commencing at 2pm.

Items to be included in the Agenda and nominations for the Committee should reach the Secretary by 1^st May 2009. The Agenda, together with the Minutes of the Ninth AGM 2008 and a duly examined statement of the club accounts for the year ending December 31^st 2008 will be sent to each member not later than 14 day before the date of the meeting. ON T.V. Tiger Aspect Productions filmed at The Supreme Cat Show 2008, their footage was broadcast on Channel 5, in a series of 3 x 5 minute programs called "Best In Show" - The series of programmes covers Cat, Dog and Chicken Shows. The series started on Monday 2nd March at 18:55 Channel 5 and continued on Tues 3rd March and Weds 4th March at 18:55. The crew followed Georgina and her lovely Egyptian Mau, Kneazle at The Supreme Cat Show 2008 - hope you saw it, it was great.

HELP NEEDED Dusha Bateson would be very grateful for volunteers to help with the catering at the Mau Club show on 4 April.

The help she needs is with making bacon baps, serving hot food and drinks and washing up. Could volunteers e-mail her at ppgb@cam.ac.uk

SPARKLING SUCCESS AT THE GCCF SUPREME SHOW 2008 !! 

It really was a MAUVELLOUS day for the Maus at the GCCF Supreme Show.  The cream of the Egyptian Mau World was present and they really did us proud !!!

Our members, Jo Higgins & Lauren Kennedy’s handsome Grand Champion Adfursh Sohbek (78 30s) beat the Grand Ocicat to win his UK Certificate and their stunning Muse (the beautiful Imperial Grand Champion Sobekotep Mwsheri) beat a gorgeous Tonk and an Ocicat for her UK Grand Certificate....... now there is the wait for a whole year before they can consider competing for the necessary second certificate ........

Their cat Harry's claim to fame, apart from been a Grand Champion, is, he is Joint first winner of the Pet Plan Stakes Competition.

Clive & Helen Wicks beautiful foundation queen, Cleopatra won her third Grand so now rejoices in the title Grand Champion Serekh Cleopatra (congratulations also to her breeder Gilllian Eccles) ....... and as for Cleo’s delightful daughter ...... how exciting for Memphis Afrikaisi to win Best of Breed in excellent Egyptian Mau competition and then progress to be Best of Variety Foreign Kitten ..... (so very nearly a Supreme day for her !!!!)

Congratulations to Kneazle (the handsome GRAND Premier Santillo Feromeses Mercury) for winning his latest title....... in straight shows !!!! His ecstatic owners, Georgina and Bob Anderson-Keeble have had a roller coaster ride of success and Kay Jater, his breeder, is so proud of his achievements.

Many congratulations to all the Maus and their owners.... Diana Harper, Maria Chapman and Steve Crow ( the Supreme Mau Judges) all commented on the superb quality of the Maus they judged;  the Foreign Section provides such strong  competition with the largest number of different breeds of different types, so our achievement is excellent.

We also owe a large debt to the superb team of Egyptian Mau Club members who worked so hard on the club stall - especially to Jean Lamb for organising everything so well. Many thanks also to Melissa who gave an excellent talk about our breed - showcasing the type, quality, personality and attraction of the Egyptian Mau.

Supreme 2008 was a memorable day, the atmosphere just buzzed with excitement. There were several television crews and we should look forward to programmes featuring our breed in 2009. The show had more than 1000 pedigree exhibits and just think....... an Egyptian Mau kitten was one of the top seven kittens and one of the Best 21 pedigree exhibits in Show ...truly a Mauvellous Moment !!!!!

THE EGYPTIAN MAU CLUB’S FIRST PRESIDENT

 The Egyptian Mau first arrived in the UK in late 1998 when Melissa returned from America bringing with her a group of beautiful Maus - the rest is history!

2008 is the tenth anniversary of the breed’s arrival, since when Maus have come such a long way. The breed has gained recognition with the GCCF; Maus successfully progressed through Preliminary and Provisional levels to reach Championship Status on June 1^st 2007; our first Grand Champion and Grand Premier titles have been awarded and the breed is enjoying great success both as an intelligent and affectionate pet as well as a force to be reckoned with on the show bench.

In recognition of Melissa’s contribution to the breed and our club and to thank her for her vision and support, it was the unanimous decision of the committee to propose she becomes the Egyptian Mau Club’s first President. The members at the Annual General Meeting on June 8^th 2008 ratified this proposal unanimously.
